CoreAchieve Update: Gamification and New Video Player

August, 01 2023

CoreAchieve's newest update brings two major features, quality-of-life updates, and bug fixes. Major Features: Video Player w/ Checkpoints, Gamification

CoreAchieve received a massive update with two major features, new languages, and multiple quality-of-life changes.

New Video Player with Checkpoints

CoreAchieve’s first new feature is a new video player, complete with checkpoints and newer methods of tracking completion. Checkpoints are a way to interact with learners while they are watching a video. For example, one could test learners, at specific points, on if they are still watching the video or give them a question related to the content.

Video checkpoints ensure that learners are engaged, challenged, and, most importantly, getting something from the material. This removes the possibility of ignoring videos and, as such, checkpoints will prove invaluable to any type of training (how to create video checkpoints).

Gamification

The other major change is a popular request: gamification. Now, CoreAchieve features a library of badges that learners can earn throughout their journey. Milestones range from logging in for the first time or completing five courses to acing quizzes or being active for 100 days can now be rewarded to the most committed of learners.

Yet, the preloaded badges (of which there are 22) may not be enough for some organizations, so we included a badge editor to create custom badges for any occasion.

Badges will be stored on user’s profiles and can be shared on social media like LinkedIn and Facebook to take your accomplishments outside of the CoreAchieve platform (how to share badges).

Checkpoints and Badges: Driving User Experience

Both features are designed to increase learner motivation, as checkpoints make videos interactive, and gamification gives learners goals beyond just finishing courses. Videos, for example, are one of the best ways to keep learners engaged as they can include visuals, text, or audio, but learners could still not focus on the content. Now, with checkpoints, learners will need to watch for possible questions or confirmations. On the opposite side of motivations, badges are not scored but are challenges for learners to attempt or, at the very least, achieve naturally through their learning journey.

Ultimately, this update gives something to both learners and instructors. For the former, gamification in the form of badges gives them extra motivation and, even if they don’t hunt for badges, achieving them naturally will still better the platform experience. As for the latter, video checkpoints give a whole new way of incorporating videos into learning experiences and testing a learner’s knowledge.

Quality-of-Life Changings and Bug Fixes

For some quality-of-life changes, CoreAchieve’s interface can now be translated into both Spanish and French. To complement these new translation options, organizations can now choose a default location, which every new user will be added under.

Beyond these features and changes, this new update has improved existing features and fixed multiple bugs throughout the platform (for a full list follow this link).
